Their preface to their report is printed here: "We are career physicists who have specialized in radiation physics, dynamic heat transfer and computer modelling for decades, subjects directly relevant to the global warming debate. Each of us has published over 200 peer-reviewed papers, many on the science of climate or closely related subjects. Our curricula vitae are attached in the appendix."

"In our opinion, the District Court of The Hague findings that “dangerous” climate change and extreme weather are caused by CO2 emissions from fossil fuels are contradicted by the scientific method and only supported by the unscientific methods of government opinions, consensus, peer review, and cherry-picked or falsified data."

"Science demonstrates fossil fuels and CO2 will not cause dangerous climate change. Rather, there will be disastrous consequences for people worldwide if fossil fuels and CO2 emissions are reduced to “net zero,” including mass starvation."

What today's band of environmentalists claim {and we consider ourselves to be both environmentalists AND energy efficiency 'experts'}  is that CO2 and (Methane) CH4 are bad for the environment, so should be severely limited. In addition these false scientific claims made by politicians {as opposed to expert physical scientists) - and repeated to indoctrinate the general population - are the basis of the fraudulent Net Zero Concepts. We have written about this several times in the past Net ZERO - They haven't a Clue and Cold Feet about Net Zero - additionally the misnomer of "FOSSIL FUEL" feeds into this misinformation paradigm. After reading this we have to ask the question: What is a Fossil Fuel? Or should we investigate the Abiotic Generation of Hydro-Carbons {citation below} on Titan and the Earth?

From the JPL 2008 article: "Saturn's moon Titan has hundreds of times more liquid hydrocarbons than all the known oil and natural gas reserves on Earth", according to new data from NASA's Cassini spacecraft.

Saturn's orange moon Titan has hundreds of times more liquid hydrocarbons than all the known oil and natural gas reserves on Earth, according to new data from NASA's Cassini spacecraft. The hydrocarbons rain from the sky, collecting in vast deposits that form lakes and dunes.

The new findings from the study led by Ralph Lorenz, Cassini radar team member from the Johns Hopkins University Applied Physics Laboratory, Laurel, Md., are reported in the Jan. 29 issue of the Geophysical Research Letters."Titan is just covered in carbon-bearing material -- it's a giant factory of organic chemicals," said Lorenz.

"This vast carbon inventory is an important window into the geology and climate history of Titan.

Alberta Changes the CO2 imperative

On November 2, Alberta’s ruling United Conservative Party (UCP) approved a resolution stating, in part:

“CO2 is a nutrient foundational for all life on Earth…The earth needs more CO2 to support life and to increase plant yields, both of which contribute to the Health and Prosperity [sic] of all Albertans.”

A UCP member speaking in favor of the resolution stated:

“According to the CO2 Coalition, higher CO2 levels have led to healthier crops and improved food security worldwide.”

The resolution recommended that the Government of Alberta should:

  1. Abandon Net Zero targets
  2. Remove the designation of CO2 as a pollutant
  3. Recognize that CO2 is a foundational nutrient for all life on Earth

As you can imagine, this did not sit well with the climate alarmist community. DeSmog Blog called us “the notorious CO2 Coalition.” Another stated:

“The CO2 Coalition, an organization that promotes the view of carbon dioxide as beneficial, appears to have influenced Resolution 12. During the UCP’s annual general meeting, a member advocating for the resolution cited the CO2 Coalition, stating that ‘higher CO₂ levels have led to healthier crops and improved food security worldwide.’ This reference suggests that the CO2 Coalition’s materials and messaging contributed to shaping the arguments and rationale behind the UCP’s decision to reclassify CO₂ and abandon net-zero emission targets.”

But wait… there’s more:

“The US-based Coalition must be squirming in their dampened seats in excitement at having the home of the oil sands not just be a hot bed of interest in their antediluvian, a-scientific perspective, but actually changing the official policy of the ruling party. I’m sure that gasoline soaked paper bags were being passed around at what passes for the Coalition’s headquarters, huffing cancer-causing hydrocarbons clearly being their drug of choice.”

Report: Carbon Capture Adds 50% {to 70%} To Power Cost ( large-scale projects and coal-fired power plants, in particular)

A new report from Pike Research of Colorado says the addition of carbon capture systems to power plants will add 50% to 70% to the cost of creating electricity for existing and future plants.

The report, titled “Carbon Capture and Sequestration: Drivers and Barriers, Technology Issues, Key Industry Players, Market Analysis and Forecasts,” adds that such increases in costs will be initially underwritten by governments but gradually passed on to ratepayers.

The report will be a wakeup call to many on the potential of such systems, which are targeted at large-scale projects and coal-fired power plants in particular, the latter accounting for half of the world’s energy-related CO2 emissions.

Pike estimates that the CCS industry will grow to revenue of $221.5 billion by 2030. The margins, however, will be low, hovering “close to zero,” and “even over the longer term, the CCS industry, heavily subsidized and equally heavily regulated, will produce relatively low profits. In addition, margins will vary widely along the vertical chain of CCS, from capture to transport to geological storage.”

However, as the report notes, predicting the future profitability is guesswork, since the price of carbon emissions (i.e, the penalties for emitting too much) “will likely be set initially by government fiat and, over the longer term, market forces that are impossible to predict with confidence.”

But scientific research is never "settled" as a new group is trying to establish

Particular ire in the WCD is reserved for climate models. To believe in the outcome of a climate model is to believe what the model makers have put in. Climate models are now central to today’s climate discussion and the scientists see this as a problem. “We should free ourselves from the naïve belief in immature climate models,” says the WCD. “In future, climate research must give significantly more emphasis to empirical science.”

The declaration is being promoted by the CLINTEL Group, which plans to give “solicited and unsolicited” advice on climate change and energy transition to governments and companies worldwide.

I am thinking that most of the advice they will give will be unsolicited. Here is hoping that policy makers, teachers, and everyone else listen to the group’s many points:

  • Natural causes contribute to climate changes.
  • Warming has been slower than predicted.
  • Climate policy is being based on inadequate models.
  • Carbon dioxide is plant food, and the basis for life on Earth.
  • Global warming has not increased natural disasters.

Perhaps the last point the CLINTEL Group makes is the most critical:  Climate policy must respect scientific and economic realities.

There is no climate emergency. Therefore, there is no cause for panic and alarm. We strongly oppose the harmful and unrealistic net-zero CO2 policy proposed for 2050. If better approaches emerge, and they certainly will, we have ample time to reflect and re-adapt. The aim of global policy should be ‘prosperity for all’ by providing reliable and affordable energy at all times. In a prosperous society men and women are well educated, birthrates are low and people care about their environment.
